Halloween Candy: What to do after the sugar rush

Curses upon whoever invented Hershey's Snack Size. When it comes to the candy, I. have. no. restraint.

Fortunately, nutritionist Julie Negrin has some great ideas for what families can do with your sacks of sweet loot to avoid a month-long sugar rush. All are very well mannered, of course; my favorites are the first two. Here are her suggestions, you can link to the full article here.

1. Give it away (at the office, or perhaps to a good cause)
3. Send it to the Candy Fairy
4. Store it out of sight
5. Make holiday gifts
6. Create a game or candy art

  1. Just saw your segment on Studio 5. Good ideas, but I disliked that while you were encouraging teaching children about gratitude, you were also teaching a misuse of English grammar. It is sad that you are joining the media ranks and the disregard for adverbs. Act Gracious? Is that like act purple? Or act short? Would act graciously have been that difficult?

  2. You are correct, and as a writer myself I humbly acknowledge the error. The wording was selected to be purposefully short and TV-soundbite-sweet. But consider the comment corrected!
